Model of The Baldwin Steam Engine Crafted by Jerry Pontius

Here is a 1/16th operational scale model of the Baldwin Steam Engine crafted by my friend Jerry Pontius.

Jerry extensively researched this engine, and with nothing more to go on than just a few old photographs and a sketchy description, first created drawings, and then built the engine from scratch out of bar stock.

Jerry explains how he got into building scale models originally,

" ... I started in 1996 when I retired, and I made a diorama of the Yates 1 Complex for the Homestake Mining Company. I had so much fun doing that, I just started building all sorts of models. "
